A compilation of interviews with Sky

December 1, 2018

Sky Sama Yoga TTC

“My classes are intuitive, I’m never completely sure what’s gonna happen because I try to be very honest and available for the group that’s there. What I have in my background, in my treasure chest I like to call it – all the jewels acquired in a lifetime, plenty of hatha yoga, Iyengar yoga, kundalini yoga, and just living a life that’s dedicated to yoga. Most importantly – spending years with my teacher Swamiji, learning about the vedas…

Expect to be taken care of, nicely held and guided – without too much detail, there’s space to relax, feel and be with yourself. No matter how flexible your legs are, if there’s conflict in your heart space, struggling going on, then we need to pay attention there.”

“Sky’s yoga is an incredible mixture of funky and traditional” /Helen

“The essence of yoga is love, relaxing into the heart, where everything is ok, where there’s no pressure.. The ultimate goal of yoga, as I understand it, as it’s put forth in Patanjali’s yoga sutras and the vedas, is really to be absolutely comfortable in oneself, as you are. To know oneself as full and complete, as wholeness, despite what we may feel. In and through, we know we’re ok, we rest in that fullness.”

“The Bhagavad Gita is all about the upanishads and the vedas, all in one great story, one dialogue between Krshna and Arjuna. Arjuna is put in a very difficult situation in the middle of a battle, where he has to face people that he loves, and abide in dharma. At that point he questions “what is this all about?”. What is the meaning of life?”

“The most important thing is that I see people as acceptable, that’s the main message of Vedanta too. We happen to be acceptable, despite the limitations we may feel in the body, despite the emotions that will continue to play, I happen to be acceptable as I am. Love, support, let people feel great about themselves, that’s what is true.”
